The popular resale platform has updated its size classifications for women's and children's garments failing to inform all users about the change. Social Media Backlash Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration. The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with other platforms. They have suggested members to check their listings and update the measurements by hand if necessary, resulting in member annoyance. Measurement Approach Changes Earlier, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10. The new system has a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10. With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18. User Accounts Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling". "Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22. "If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she stated. Manual Updates Another shopper, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item". "Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she explained. Marketplace Information The platform boasts over 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members. It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop. This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: last year, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
